Specialization - Services for Indigenous Individuals

Wesakechak is committed to strengthening relations with Indigenous communities and advocating for Indigenous Individuals to remain connected to their culture. We incorporate cultural teachings and worldviews into our service delivery approaches, and host monthly staff workshops on the integration of Indigenous cultural practices.

For Supported Individuals, we provide opportunities for Métis jigging, connection with local Indigenous organizations including the Nawican Friendship Centre and the Dawson Creek Aboriginal Family Resources, and connection to culture in a broad sense to reflect the identity and diverse interests of each Individual.

We strive to connect Individuals to their families or communities of origin, as well as to their culture, by supporting involvement in family gatherings and community parades. Individuals connect and build networks through volunteerism, social gatherings, community events, sports and much more.
