Wesakechak is an Indigenous-led agency that values connection to culture
and we support Individuals to build connection with their culture of origin and to learn about other cultures. Our approach is adaptable according to needs and involves networking with Indigenous nations, agencies or groups, attending cultural events, learning jigging, music, crafts and learning about various foods. We branch out with travel to participate in cultural events, learning opportunities, ceremonies, or gatherings or to visit communities of origin for Individuals. As part of our ongoing staff team development, Wesakechak offers monthly in-service training by Metis and other Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Trainers to expand capacity in cultural knowledge and to ensure a strong team that offers person-centered care to Individuals.
